Freego scooters were handed over to the city police by Asset Homes

The Ernakulam City Police has got four more Freego scooters to help maintain law and order in narrow alleys, crowded areas and places impassable by large vehicles. The freego scooters were donated to the city police by Asset Homes and Global Public School through a project implemented by Better Kochi Response Group (BKRG), an informal group working for the welfare of the city, and Rotary Club of Kochi Central.

Justice Devan Ramachandran handed over the Freego scooters to Deputy City Police Commissioner S Sasidharan at a function held at the Regional Sports Centre. BKRG President Architect S Gopakumar, Rotary Club of Cochin Central President G Jayakrishnan, Asset Homes Managing Director Sunil Kumar V., Global Public School Chairman P. Jacob, BKRG Treasurer R Balachandran and Regional Sports Center Secretary SAS Nawaz spoke. Of the four Freego scooters, three were donated by Asset Homes and one by Global Public School.

Powered by a rechargeable battery, these Freego scooters can travel at a speed of up to 18 kmph. Can carry a maximum weight of 120 kg. They can be used on surfaces with an inclination of up to 30 degrees and can be used up to 25 km on a single charge.
