Asset Homes has introduced advanced Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall) Technology at Asset Vismayam, its premium residential project in Sasthamangalam, located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram. Speaking about the milestone, Mr. V. Sunil Kumar, Founder and Managing Director of Asset Homes, said that the D-Wall system addresses one of the biggest challenges in modern urban construction; executing deep, multi-level basement works safely without affecting the structural integrity of neighbouring properties. “Given the highly congested nature of our Sasthamangalam site, we adopted the D-Wall system to provide the surrounding community with the highest level of safety before any deep excavation commenced. One of the key advantages of the D-Wall system is its dual functionality. It serves as an immediate shoring system that retains the surrounding earth during excavation and subsequently becomes the permanent, heavy-duty retaining wall for the completed basement. Since the wall is fully constructed before excavation begins, the need for separate temporary shoring structures is eliminated, helping accelerate the overall construction timeline while improving execution efficiency.

Unlike conventional methods that rely on circular piles, Asset Homes has constructed a continuous, high-strength reinforced concrete retaining wall for the project. Built in sequential segments measuring approximately five metres in length and 60 centimetres in thickness, the depth of each segment has been carefully designed to suit the site’s specific excavation requirements.

During the initial trenching process, a specialised slurry mixture is introduced into the excavated trench to stabilise the surrounding soil and prevent it from collapsing inward. This ensures soil stability from the earliest stage of construction while minimising the risk of displacement or damage along adjoining property boundaries.

The D-Wall system also offers significant structural benefits during Kerala’s heavy monsoon season by creating a rigid and secure perimeter around the excavation area. This enhances site safety for the workforce while enabling greater precision, improved construction quality, and superior long-term stability for the project’s foundation and basement structure.
